Helping Members - CFCS Needs Your Help
If you want
CFCS to be THERE FOR YOU TOMORROW
YOU MUST GET INVOLVED TODAY!
Members often state a reluctance to volunteer because they think you have to
be a Computer Expert, but nothing could be further from the truth! CFCS has
Volunteer opportunities to fit every skill level, from beginners to experts. As a nonprofit,
educational organization, CFCS' success or failure is dependent on the dedication
and volunteer work of its members.
There is always a lot to do and new volunteers are always needed. If you can
answer the phone, type letters, make phone calls, enter data, take messages
off of voice mail, or put on a friendly face at a trade show, you can make
an important
contribution to the continued success of CFCS.

Opportunity Is Knocking At Your Door!
No matter what your skill level, areas of interest or availability there are
always opportunities to contribute. Here are some of the things you might
want to help with, descriptions and contact information are listed below:
Help numbers when you need them the most. Members who have some familiarity with a particular software application,
Operating System, or type of hardware, are encouraged to serve on the Volunteer
Telephone Help Committee.
Most users requesting help have very basic questions.
By volunteering, you can not only help others, but you can learn from the
experience and also get a good feeling doing it.
Take a look at the "Help
Numbers" directory in the Newsletter to see the subjects currently covered.
If there is a subject that you are interested in that is not listed, we can
add it. If you can help with a title currently showing only one volunteer,
your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Committee members are listed
in the monthly Newsletter with either a phone number or e-mail address
and specific days of the week and times of day that members may contact them
for assistance. If you are interested in volunteering for this opportunity
please: Contact our HelpLine CoOrdinator
CFCS offers Special Interest Groups (SIG's) covering subjects such as Computer
Literacy, Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, the Internet, Graphics,
Web Development/Internet Marketing plus several others. If you have expertise
in a particular software application and enjoy teaching, this may be the
opportunity for you. If you have only a basic familiarity with a software
application one good way to gain more knowledge is by volunteering as a SIG
assistant.
If you would be interested in volunteering for any of these opportunities,
please be sure to: Contact: SIG
Coordinator
Volunteers are needed at the monthly General Meetings to help set up the program
tables, projectors, screens and to run the sound system. Persons willing
to act as greeters, pass out tickets for door prizes and help with the occasional
giveaway at the program's end are also welcome. This is a great opportunity
for those who would like to help but have a limited amount of time to spare.

for Computer-Related Trade Shows and Other Special Events:
Enthusiastic CFCS members are needed every month for Market Pro Shows and several
times a year to staff CFCS booths at computer-related trade shows and other
special events.
It's fun! At these events CFCS meets the community at large
and promotes itself to potential members.
All you have to do is hand out CFCS
literature and giveaways; and tell attendees about CFCS and membership benefits.
Trade show volunteers also receive a free pass to visit the booths of exhibiting
vendors.

As with any large organization there are always plans and projects we would like
to be able to initiate. These projects would provide more services for our members
as well as benefit the local community. Without administrative, clerical, or
technical support from our members several of these projects have not been able
to make it beyond the planning stages. Some of the Special Projects CFCS would
like to promote include:
1) Community outreach and education / mentoring programs
among Senior Citizen Groups, Youth Groups, and Special Needs Groups. 2) Projects
to attract young people into the organization.3) To put
together a history of CFCS. We are looking for a historian who
could interview some of the original members of the organization,
look through the old magazines, and research some of the history
of the organization. From this research, they could write a brief
history of the organization. This could even be a group project.4) Provide
additional educational opportunities for our members.5) To
write grant applications
If you are interested in these projects or have a project topic to offer:
